At the height of the pandemic, Alex Williams identified a need that, despite COVID, dog owners still needed to have their pets groomed regularly.
Having completed grooming training and Business Admin courses, Alex was well equipped to make the most of his skills and knowledge. In June of 2021, he established Streetdog Pet Groomers Limited in Enfield – serving Central and Greater London, Essex and Hertfordshire. By travelling to clients, there is a reduction in business overheads, a definite USP, and pet owners themselves have no need to travel.
However, despite having purchased a diesel van outright at the outset, it became clear that the cost of fuel, constant vehicle repairs – and the ULEZ charge for London – meant Streetdogs needed a change of tack to remain viable.
With the grooming equipment inside the van being totally transferable, the move to a Maxus Edeliver 9 Van from Heathrow Maxus made perfect business sense. The changeover was relatively straightforward and the costs for both the van and subsequent conversion were arranged by Tony Flounders, Account Director at Kennet Equipment Leasing.
From the outset, Tony recognised the viability – and was delighted to support Streetdogs in their “future proofing” plans.
Tony said “It was clear that Streetdogs Pet Groomers had a growing customer base, and a great business model – it just needed the investment to ensure its’ operating expenditures were sustainable in light of rising costs. Here at Kennet, we saw Alex’s plans as a perfect way to continue trading and grow his business – as they can keep their outgoings in check.”
In equivalent terms, Streetdog’s transport costs have reduced by around 75% – even before the ULEZ charge is taken into account. The future looks bright for Alex and his business.
